We are excited to share an important milestone for our School community: the establishment of the TGS AI Framework.

This comprehensive framework has been built upon six key pillars, including Teaching and Learning, Human and Social Wellbeing, Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Privacy, Safety, and Security. By grounding our framework in the Australian Framework for Generative AI in Schools, we ensure that our approach to integrating AI into our curriculum and operations is both responsible and forward-thinking.

“We recognise the importance of preparing our students for a future increasingly influenced by AI, hence our approach to implementing this framework is both careful and intentional.”
Crystal Hede, Director of Learning and Innovation

Each cohort from Year 5 through to Year 12 has attended presentations about the Framework over the past two weeks. Moving forward, it is our intent to systematically teach capabilities that will enable students to use AI with confidence and academic integrity, in an age-appropriate way.

The launch of the TGS AI Framework coincides with a refreshed Learning and Assessment Policy which clearly stipulates the rules for using AI in assessment. When students are given explicit permission to use AI for their assessments, they will be required to properly attribute their work, similar to citing a journal or any other source.

Moreover, we are committed to supporting the entire School community in this journey. All staff members, from teachers to administrative and operations personnel, will receive ongoing training to effectively use AI tools. Additionally, we are implementing measures to protect personal information, comply with Australian privacy laws, and ensure cybersecurity.

We believe it is our responsibility to support students to graduate from Toowoomba Grammar School possessing the critical and creative thinking skills needed for success beyond school, built on a rich knowledge base. We aim for them to be adept at utilising AI responsibly and accurately attributing it in their academic work.

We are thrilled to embark on this transformative journey together and look forward to your support in preparing our students for the future.
