A Toowoomba Grammar School Music teacher has been appointed to a highly regarded international position, one of the only people in Australia to have the role.
Woodwind teacher and accompanist, Melissa Buchholz has received the honour of a position on the Trinity College London music examinations panel. This position is considered one of the highest in the music industry examination sectors.
"This has been a lifelong dream of mine and a rigorous two year process to be appointed," said Mel.
"I wanted to do this as a way of giving back and using my experience in a productive way."
This exciting opportunity will see Mel travelling and examining not only throughout Australia but also in New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
This achievement is the result of plenty of training and hard work and Mel is a wonderful example to our music students of the sort of opportunities that arise through dedication to your craft.
Mel has taught at TGS for ten years as well as adjudicating at eisteddfods across Australia. She is also involved in numerous external performance groups including the Toowoomba Choral Society and the Empire Theatre. She is a ‘freelance’ performer with many artists and bands and runs a home teaching studio, as well as another business called MB Backing Tracks.
TGS is extremely proud of Mel’s latest achievement and are excited to follow her progress and the further knowledge she will be able to impart on our students.
