Congratulations to TGS Old Boy Will Anderson (2015-2023) who was recently awarded the prestigious 2024 TJ Ryan Memorial Medal.
Each year up to ten TJ Ryan Memorial Medals and Scholarships are awarded by the Queensland Government to support exemplary students in their pursuit of tertiary studies. With a history dating back to 1927, the award recognises the outstanding leadership demonstrated by nominees in their school and the local community along with academic excellence in their senior high school years.
Will has been awarded a $10 000 scholarship over five years to support his pursuit of a Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine undergraduate 5 year program with Monash University.
This is a testament to the multi-faceted endeavours Will engaged in while at Toowoomba Grammar School, including serving as a Senior Prefect, Taylor Day House Captain, Leader of the TGS Big Band, a member of TGS’s first ever GPS Debating team and Secretary for the TGS Interact Club.
While at TGS, Will also received an Associate Diploma of Saxophone Performance with Con Brio School of Music in Sydney. Will also achieved co-curricular awards for: Outstanding Contribution to Debating and Year 12 Excellence in Music; and Academic Awards: Dr George Fielding Award for Diligence; Pro Diligentia; and Maxima Cum Laude.
